Life, Business & Personal Updates: My 2024 Story
It's that magical time of the year again. This morning, I woke up in Oleggio to a blanket of fresh snow.
The first snowfall always feels special, doesn't it?
It was so lovely to see our new home covered in white. The sun's out, too, making everything sparkle even more.
All this calm and beauty inspired me to reach out and share a bit about my year with you.
I've been influenced by Ali Abdaal's end-of-year video (you should check it out!), so I'll break things down into:
Life Updates
Business Updates
Personal Updates
Life Updates
2024 has been very busy, at least!
We bought our first home in Italy.
It's big, beautiful, and, yes, it's our family home!
Unlike our previous ones, where we stuck to a strict budget and IKEA furniture, this time, we wanted to create a place that's genuinely ours - a home for the foreseeable future.
I wanted an office and playroom or taverna for friends and gatherings.
We also purchased a house for my mother-in-law in Oleggio, moving her up from Calabria.
Having her nearby has been a game-changer, especially with the girls.
For the first time, we have family close, and it's made such a difference.
All these moves have been fantastic but also quite costly.
We have had to manage our expenses very well, and it wasn't easy at the time. I also posted on LinkedIn, in case you missed it.
But seeing everyone settled and happy makes it all worth it.
We will rebuild our savings (hopefully).
Business Updates
This year marks my second year in business.
After launching in January 2023, 2024 was crucial.
It could have confirmed I was into something, or maybe not; who knew?
Here's the kicker: my total revenue is up by 2% compared to last year.
It might not sound huge, but considering I've worked at least 25% less, it's a win in my book.
All of this with no full-time employees and almost 95% margins.
I'm super happy! 😍
Life's demands took up much of the time I'd usually dedicate to work.
I continued prioritising my clients, keeping up with my newsletter, and creating content on Linkedin.
The market is currently crowded with fractionals (both professionals and wannabes). It's not easy to stand out, but I promise to keep adding value.
But I've found my niche working with early-stage startups, especially those below 5M in ARR who need to kickstart or scale their sales teams.
The second half of the year has been all about Inscaler.com.
I'm adding other services besides fractional sales.
Founders keep asking about product marketing, messaging, and growth.
They don't need sales alone, they need GTM processes, templates, use cases.
This is going to be Inscaler.
We're interviewing over 50 founders about our new offering, so stay tuned - 2025 might be the year of Inscaler!
Personal Updates
On a personal note, 2024 has been fantastic overall.
I've taken my health seriously, balancing nights out, food and drinks with friends while consistently training twice weekly.
I started training for the Stramilano half marathon in March 2025. I have never run past 10k, so let's see.
Fasting every Thursday for 24 hours has also been a game-changer.
From the family side, I (hope) I've been a good father and husband this year. Spending quality time with my family has been a priority, and it's been fulfilling.
I haven't travelled much, but that's okay.
Italy has so many beautiful places to explore that I don't need to hop on a plane. Each weekend brings a new local adventure.
I've also learned so much this year.
Joining Pavilion has been transformative, and it fills me with joy to share my knowledge - both past experiences and new insights - with my clients.
Closing Remarks
I often see the glass as half full, but it was full this year. 🥛
I'm so lucky to do what I love, have a family who loves me and that I love so much, and have friends and like-minded people all around me.
I'm so proud to work with forward-thinking founders who dream big daily.
Finally, thank you for reading this far.
As always, having so many people read these emails is a pleasure and a source of pride.
Thank you again, and I hope you do great things in 2025.
