Soul Trips: The Power of Stepping Away to Recharge
Have you ever taken a soul trip?
Yesterday, I stepped off a plane from London after two days of solo travelling.
Since moving back from Ireland to Oleggio - a quiet village near Novara, outside Milan - I've worked remotely, both in my full-time jobs and now as an entrepreneur with Inscaler.
My routine is steady and predictable:
Wake up
Write content
Breakfast
School run
Work
Lunchtime workout
More work
Family time
I love it, but now and then, the sameness impacts my creativity and drains my energy.
That's why I take soul trips - short solo journeys to recharge my mind and spirit.
London is the perfect destination for me. It's just a quick flight away and full of inspiration.
This time, I went to see Sahil Bloom live (again).
If you don't know Sahil, you should. Subscribe to his newsletter, follow him, and check out his new book.
I arrived in London around noon, checked into my Airbnb, and rested.
I then took a stroll in the city and stopped at a local pub for dinner before heading to the event, co-hosted by Chris Donnelly. (another incredible human being).
The event was the last tour of Sahil's newest book, "The Five Types of Wealth".
It was packed with insights, but one lesson stuck with me: our relationship with time.
Sahil shared how time with parents peaks in childhood and declines sharply as we grow up.
Living 3,000 miles away, he only saw his parents once a year.
If they lived to their 70s, that meant just 10-15 more visits.
That realization led him to move closer and be more intentional with time.
That hit hard.
I, too, found myself in that position. Our move back to Italy was similar, massively increasing the time spent with our family. I'm so glad we did it.
The next day, still buzzing with inspiration, I poured all this fresh energy into Inscaler, fueled by new ideas. I wrote for 4 hours straight in the airport. 😍
That's the magic of a soul trip.
I boarded my flight, tired and uncertain.
I landed recharged, curious, and ready to move forward.
Another soul trip is on the horizon, maybe after summer.
But for now, I'm exactly where I need to be.
Thanks for reading. See you next week.
